Review This book is absolutely fascinating. It opens saying ‘ Three faiths emerged… in the Nomadic Desert of the Middle East’ . That was enough to get me hooked on what is a fascinating book. This is a book on religion and NOT a religious book and that distinction is important. The author, Dr Andrew Chibi, is a well respected academic and has charted a course through this book that is admirable and understandable. In chapter one he discusses the emerging faiths and the importance of the central prophetic figures i.e Moses and Judaism and Jesus and Christianity. Chapter 2 talks about change sin religious thinking, while chapter 3 goes on to talk about the influence of Aristotle. In Chapter 4 he talks of the impact of the Renaissance and the reformation of Christendom. and chapter 5 moves towards modernity. One criticism of this book is that the chapters are long but this is an absolutely fascinating read and one I highly recommend to you.
